New Projects

The 3 Friends Sale is just a few weeks away and
I have started making some new items for it.

Miss Bea Haven
I know my husband wonders when I am going to stop watching Masterpiece Theater and start working, but for me it's research.  All that historic inspiration gets the wheels turning!  He thinks I'm just avoiding the craziness of my workroom, but I'm actually paying attention to all the details in the furniture, clothing, and little details in the background.  Simply beautiful!
Just to prove that I have been working,  here are a few peeks!

More soon and mark your calendars for March 17th, 9 am- 4 pm! M.

P.S. Thanks to Graphics Fairy for some wonderful images!

Studio Play Date #2: Piece of Cake!

Yesterday afternoon 8 ladies gathered in my dining room to learn how I make my Celebration Cakes.
I provided lots of vintage treasures to embellish the cakes ...

yummy, sweet Valentine treats ...

and after a few basics, the gals took to "cake making" like they had been making them forever!

Lots of creativity, giggling, sharing. nibbling and in a couple of hours ...
some very unique, lovely "cakes"!

Here are the gals with their creations.

These ladies out-did themselves.  Gather a group of fun women, add a dash of interesting embellishments and lots of creativity - voila an amazing afternoon!  Thank you all for spending the afternoon with me and giving me the opportunity to get to know you.  My chalkboard says it all ...

Valentine Garland Project

I usually don't make Valentine's Day projects.  No particular reason - I just don't.  Today, I decided I wanted to try something different and made this easy garland. (Maybe it has something to do with the full moon.  Who knows.)

I purchased paper heart doilies at my local store where everything is a dollar.  They were really bright white so I "toasted" them in the oven on a cookie sheet.  It only takes about 2 minutes at 400 degrees.  Don't walk away or they could catch fire - you know - they are paper!  It makes them look like they are ages old.  Nice and creamy.

Then I tore some pages from an old dictionary to create the printed heart.  I fed the pages through my printer to print letters directly on the dictionary pages.  Make sure the page edges are even and not ragged so they don't get jammed or feed into the printer all crooked and "wee-wah".

After printing the letters on each page, cut the pages into hearts centering the letter in the middle of the heart.  Apply white glue to the center of the doily with a brush and stick the printed heart on it.  Smooth out any bubbles. The doilies I chose had a smooth paper heart shape in the center which determined the size and placement of the printed heart.

I glued the doilies onto a length of ribbon and voila - a sweet valentine greeting!

You could try this with red or pink hearts and skip the oven toasting step.
Even easier!  Give it a try and happy creating.

Oh, don't forget to mark your calendars for ...
